Montecarlo, Argentina – The United States Women’s National Team will return to the world stage on Thursday, November 7, as they begin their quest at the 2024 IFA Women’s World Championship in Montecarlo, Argentina. This marks just the third international event for the U.S. Women’s National Team, following appearances at the 2014 Women’s World Championships in Dresden, Germany, and the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama.
The United States will participate in the opening match of the tournament, facing Colombia at 10 a.m. local time (8 a.m. EST). This will be the second meeting between the two nations; the United States and Colombia last met at the 2014 Women’s World Championships, where the Americans secured a 3-1 victory.
The U.S. Women will finish group play on Friday, November 8, by taking on Namibia at 10 a.m. local time (8 a.m. EST). The U.S. Men’s National Team and the Namibian Men's Team have a long-standing, respectful rivalry, which the women’s team hopes to continue. Based on the results of group play, the U.S. Women will play a quarterfinal qualifier on Friday afternoon.
Also at stake in these World Championships are six coveted spots for the 2025 World Games. The 2025 World Games hosts, China, and the 2024 European Champion, Germany, have already secured their places in Chengdu next summer. The remaining six spots will be allocated based on World Championship rankings and continental considerations.
